Unfortunately with time as we age and our lifestyle choices start to take their toll, the body’s ability to repair itself is slowed down, and the body produces less mesenchymal stem cells and other key components with healthy healing regenerative properties. This is aging as simple as it gets, fortunately now with the amazing leaps we have made recently in medicine we have the ability to reverse this. We can actually jumpstart the body’s ability to heal and repair certain tissues that are diseased, deteriorating or otherwise failing.
We learn more about the amazing properties and abilities of human tissue cell transplantation every day. It has even been said by some medical experts that as soon as 30 years from now, death will be optional! That is hard to imagine but regenerative medicine and other fields are currently making huge leaps in our understanding of the human body and it is offering real possible treatments that would have seemed like science fiction a few short years ago.
We all know the human body has a miraculous ability to heal and repair itself! With regenerative medicine we are only helping the body to do it more efficiently, we don’t use medications with potentialy dangerous side effects, we don’t remove any damaged tissues or even the whole knee for example. We aid the body in repairing itself, we just use cutting edge therapies to help it do so.
Although no two cases are the same, the principle behind our treatment is. The simplest way to think of human cell tissue transplantation is that it is a cell that has not yet differentiated or become unique. This cell can grow into whatever is needed of it, it has potential just no direction or instructions yet. Once mesenchymal stem cells are injected in a knee for example the body guides and directs those cells to become what is necessary and needed. They may go on to help heal and repair a damaged medial meniscus, or if there is cartilage damage and deterioration the cells may aid in forming new cartilage for the knee surface. It is amazing how it works, and we don’t fully understand it yet.
Unlike a steroid or pain injection, the results are not instant, it takes time for your body to utilize the tissues and for healing to occur. Most people will begin to see their symptoms improve within a few weeks but often maximum success is achieved at months 3 and 4. Depending on the injury we will often combine laser therapy to the regenerative medicine protocols to improve the outcomes and try and speed the recovery process. We also use functional neurology protocols when helpful and we strive to improve your success chances any way we can. We will suggest a plan of care for you and lay out any options we think will help you at the time of your examination. You will walk out with options for your treatment, and we will do our best to help you achieve your goals.
