Arthritis is an inflammatory condition that affects the joints causing pain and stiffness with or without decreased ability to move. There are many types but the most common is osteoarthritis. Some people call it "wear and tear" or degenerative joint disease. You can have arthritis pain in the shoulder, back, knee, ankle, hand or any joint in the body, even your jaw.
